South Edmonton Common. See if you can avoid any direct gas-guzzling and bike or bus down. Once you’re there, feel the strangeness as you walk from store to store. Everyone else drives from parking lot to parking lot, so, in this self-contained planet for cars, just getting from one big box store to the other feels like an Everest-scale trek. Sherpa your shopping bags (though you can always bring your own reusable bags) from jean store to home & garden store to that Swedish DIY store, where you can spend hours just walking through the maze of furniture-besieged pathways and shortcut passages, as if it’s a Clue board (solution: Mr Bergstrom with the Allen-Key Wrench in the Kids’ Ball Room).
