Bestest underappreciated tourist attraction
The Royal Alberta Museum. I’m a sucker for museums and I blame it on the lack of promotion to explain why I’ve never taken a tour in there. Recently, though, the RAM happened to be the venue of an event I had to be at. The scenery upon entering the building was just stunning. Stepping onto the museum’s premises is like discovering a well-kept secret. Despite not getting the recognition (and in all likelihood, funding) that it deserves, the museum has one of the nicest gardens in the city. The rest of Edmonton should be taking note. While I wasn’t able to take a tour of the place when I was there, the displays by the entrance (like a Korean exhibit where displays of clothing, a large boat, rice bowls and cell phones—yes, cell phones) were enough to make me want to come back and check it out. I later went to the museum’s website and they’ve got exhibits on dragons and recoveries made from the sinking Empress of Ireland to name a few.New comments for this entry have been turned off and any existing ones are hidden.
