The Pharmacist
Sun, Sep 26 (9 pm)Depicting the story of a narcoleptic pharmacist-turned-drug dealer, The Pharmacist is just as silly and campy as it sounds—until things take a sobering, violent turn partway through. At this point, the humour transitions from campy to macabre, and the film's previously disparate elements—highly stylized dream sequences, banal realism, mobster-movie brutality—are neatly unified. Edmonton theatre darling Chris Craddock delivers a memorable performance, and his story, co-authored with Indy Randhawa, remains engaging throughout. Definitely a must-see, especially for lovers of local theatre. vueweekly.com comments: powered by Disqus
