The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard

Sat, Sep 25 (2:30 pm)
This film aims high but just can't quite reach its mark. Paul Shepard attempts to take a fresh look into all the messy details of love and modern relationships—no easy feat—and while the results are often wryly humorous, it relies on cliché and tired aphorisms far too much to be truly insightful; nothing new or even particularly interesting is uncovered throughout the meandering duration of the film. Its best moments are the self-deprecating acknowledgements of the film's amateur mockumentary style, and are really the only things saving Paul Shepard from complete banality.
