This cabaret is for those moments you have wanted to burst into Livin on a Prayer. No, no matter how hip you think you are, at some moment in your life you have wanted to have simply wanted to cry out, “Whoooaaa, we're half way theeeerree!” And Bridget Ryan knows why. Narrating her journey finding out about the elements (earth, wood, water, fire, metal) that guide our personalities Ryan took the opportunity to share the knowledge and explain their meaning through the popular music of the 80s. She and her five person band have expertly manipulated the classics from Run to the Hills to Under Pressure to express those small moments in life that define who we are.
Ryan takes on a lot though in exploring each element's defining characteristics and at times it feels as though each element could be cut down by one or two songs, but overall the musicianship, the sharp narration and well, the sentimental celebration of the 80s make this a cabaret worth experiencing.
