Water is necessary for life, but it may not always be as free flowing as it is today. While the UN General Assembly passed the declaration that water is a human right, privatized water markets around the world make water inaccessible and unaffordable to many individuals. Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow was in Edmonton to speak about the need to protect the public right to water.
