Booker T. Jones owns the Hammond B3 organ. Well, yeah, I'm sure he literally owns at least one, but we're talking metaphorically here. He's just that good, working melodies out of the ether and cutting straight to the point, even when that point lays somewhere at the end of a winding road. The only thing is that an organ player like Booker T needs a band of heavy calibre to back him up, and he has just that on Potato Hole with the Drive-By Truckers giving the songs a work out. It's all instrumental and it's great for the most part, the biggest complaint being that it doesn't always work as a single statement, at times sounding like the songs have been tacked onto the same record. I can live with that, though.
